Awareness Programme on Quality Seeds for Organic Agriculture held at Chandel

District Agricultural Officer Chandel and Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) Chandel in Associate with Alumni Association of Agriculture College, Imphal Jointly Organised a One Day Awareness Programme on Quality Seeds for Organic Agriculture held today under the Sponsorship of Manipur Organic Mission Agency (MOMA), Department of Horticulture & Soil Conservation & ICAR Research Complex for NEH Region, Manipur Centre Imphal at Hanatham Village in Chandel District.

Deputy Commissioner of Chandel Krishna Kumar-IAS, Nodal Officer of Seed Project, ICAR Manipur Centre, Sr. Research Scientist Biotech  Dr.O.Gunamani and District Agriculture Officer (DAO) Chandel Gladncy Monsang attended the occasion as chief guest, functional president and guest of honours respectively.

During the Programme in Technical Session, Resource Persons Nodal Officer of Seed Project ICAR, Research Centre for NEH, Manipur Centre Dr. I.Meghachandra Singh spoke on the topic – “Quality Seeds & its Importance”, Dr. L.Jibit Asst. Project Officer of MOMA spoke on “Present Status of Organic Farming in Manipur”, Prof. L.Nabachandra Singh Spoke on the topic “Care and Management of Rice”, Kh.Nimaichand Singh AAO Dept. of Agriculture Spoke on the topic “IPM/IDM in Rice”, L.Sanatomba Singh AO Dept. of Agriculture Spoke on “Conversion of Conventional Field for Organic Agriculture”, Dr.T.Basanta Singh Scientist Soil Science ICAR Manipur & General Secy AAACI Spoke on the topic “Soil Health Management for Organic Agriculture” and Sr. Research Scientist Biotech Dr.O.Gunamani Spoke on “Scopes on Medicinal Plants”.

Agricultural Spray Pump  were distributed to farmers and later an interaction programme between farmers and agricultural scientists was organised to mark the occasion. ,More than 100 farmers including Village Chiefs and Pastors attended the workshop.
