73rd Independence Day celebrated at Senapati

Yesterday. N. Kayisii, Minister Tribals & Hill Areas Development and Fisheries, unfurled the National flag on the 73rd Independence Day Celebration at Mini Stadium ground, Senapati.

Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Guest stated that the 15th August is great significance day for the people of India because on this day of 1947, India gets freedom from British rule. He also stated that it is the day celebrating victory of the people, by the people and for the people. He said that the determination of freedom fighters, political leaders and people have achieved to be a free people through the sacrifices of true spirit and courage. On this occasion, he paid tribute and salute to the freedom fighters for their role in getting Independence of India. Some of the freedom fighters, he mentioned like Bal Gangadhar Tilak, Lala Lajpat Rai, Rani Lashmibhai, Chandrashekhar Azad, Mangal Pandey, Bhagat Singh, Lal Bahadur Shastri, Subhas Chandra Bose, Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru and Mahatma Gandhi had immensely contributed for the cause of the country and in the history of India.

With the celebration of 73rd I- Day, he appeal to pay homage to the motherland for the blessing, renew the commitment of the country to respect, to love and care with the highest honour. He also appeal to the people of Senapati, to wake up and march forward to build the district a better place to live in where God is found, a place where everyone is respected with dignity, a place where nature and environment is well balanced and take care of public properties as their own.

Lakshay Sharma, IPS was the parade commander of 34 contingents consisting of students and security personnel’s who participated in the March pass. As part of the program, cultural dances and songs were also performed. Red blankets were also distributed to the village chiefs and authorities. Commendation certificates were also handed to the outstanding employees.
