Tengnoupal District Celebrates 73rd Independence Day with Fervour

Hundreds of people today gathered to celebrate India’s 73rd Independence Day with outmost joy and fervour at the Tengnoupal Government High School Ground, Tengnoupal district.

Thounaojam Shyamkumar, Minister of Forest & Environment, Horticulture & Soil Conservation, MAHUD and Town Planning today unfurled the tricolour at the official function organised by the District Administration, Tengnoupal. He took salute from the marching contingents of different schools, Manipur Police, Manipur Rifles and 12 Assam Rifles.

Speaking at the function, Minister Shyamkumar said that we should be proud of our country as it is home to different communities and tribes following different religion. We are living in a secular and democratic country, he added.

Stating that the sacrifices made by our countrymen for India’s independence cannot be forgotten, he said we should always remember the sacrifices of the freedom fighters and we should be proud of the historic struggle of India’s independence. Truth and ahimsa (non-violence) practiced by the freedom fighters cannot be forgotten in the years to come.

Stating that all the people of the country must remain united so that no outside force can harm us, he said we should work for the development of the State and nation without any discrimination of caste, creed or culture in any part of the nation.

Urging the officials of the newly created district Tengnoupal to report regarding various problems and shortage of infrastructure to the State Government, he said the State Government is committed for overall development of the State.

He further said that all the people residing in the district are the sons and daughters of same mother. He concluded his speech by appealing to all the people to join hands so that peace, progress and overall development can be brought in the district without any division of caste, creed or culture.

At the function, the Minister also awarded officers from different departments for their commendable service. Saplings were presented to the dignitaries at the function provided by the Forest Department as part of the environment conservation effort.

The function was also attended by H. Rupachandra Singh, DC Tengnoupal, Th. Bikramjit Singh, SP Tengnoupal, officials from the different State departments and personnel of 12 Assam Rifles.
