The Regional Institute Medical Sciences (RIMS), Imphal observed 128th Patriots Day yesterday at the Jubilee Hall, RIMS. The Director of RIMS, Prof. A. Santa Singh was the Chief Guest of the function. Prof. Ch. Arunkumar Singh, Medical Superintendent, RIMS Hospital, Prof. Brogen Singh Akoijam, Dean (Academic), RIMS, Prof. Nepram Sanjib Singh, Staff Advisor, RIMS Students’ Union, RIMS & Ksh. Kenedy Singh, representative of RIMS Students’ Union were present on dais as President and guests of honour respectively.
The Director, Prof. A. Santa Singh stated that we must all remember the sacrifices made by our forefathers during the Anglo-Manipur War. The Director expressed his happiness that this year the institute is able to organize Patriots Day in such grand manner as a tribute to our freedom fighters. He also mentioned that earlier, the students and staff along with outsourced agencies of this institute organized Two Days Cleanliness drive in all hostels and awarded two hostels as two best clean hostels. As part of this year patriots’ Day observation, a blood donation camp in collaboration with Immuno Haematology & Blood Transfusion (IHBT) Department of RIMS was also held and 27 staff, students and volunteers donated blood and distributed mementoes to the blood donor.
During the function, the students and staff presented recitation and patriotic songs. Principals of Dental College and College of Nursing, Head of Departments, faculty members, staff, students and invitees were also attended the function.
