Representatives of the Joint Action Committee (JAC) formed against the death of Khangembam Achou Meitei along with relatives of the deceased met Chief Minister N. Biren Singh at Chief Ministers Secretariat, Babupara, lmphal in the presence of Kumbi A/C MLA S. Bira Singh and Government officials concerned on Saturday evening.
The JAC members and relatives of the deceased had a lengthy discussion with the Chief Minister regarding the unfortunate incident which occurred at Kumbi Setupur Mayai Leikai in Bishnupur District on 6th August 2019.
During the meeting, the JAC members also submitted a memorandum which contained a charter of demands. After a thorough discussion with the Chief Minister, the JAC and family members agreed to claim the body of Achou Meitei. On the other hand, Chief Minister instructed the 500/500 concerned to resolve the land dispute in question at the earliest.
It was assured also from the side of the Government that necessary swift action be taken up to punish the accused person as per law of the land.
The Chief Minister also handed over some financial assistance to the family of the deceased.
