Volunteers of MEELAL today tore three Manipuri books for containing foreign language. The MEELAL Volunteers also tore a flex banner for not putting indigenous Meitei script. Speaking to media, President of the organisation Sadokpam Tomba Mangang said that the books were tore after examining by Lexicon Committee. He said the MEELAL has already warned writers not to include foreign language while writing books. He said writers of all the three books were summoned by the Lexicon Committee for correction of the language however as none of the three had turned up to the office the MEELAL have no other option but to tear and ban the book. The three books are Kainya written by Punshiba Soibam (Poem Collection), ‘Sahitya Neinarol Ahouba’ written by Bhorot Sanasam (Prose) and ‘Manglan Khara Saktam Khara’ written by Khundongbam Gokulchandra (short story). MEELAL president Sadokpam Tomba said that the three books will be banned until the three writers came to the office of MEELAL and Lexicon Committee to make the correction.

He said from January 1, 2015 all vehicle owners should write the number plates of their vehicles with indigenous Meitei mayek script in addition to the High Security number plate. He also said that the books prescribed by the board of Secondary Education Manipur for class 1 to 10 should also be checked for content of foreign language and should be corrected if found any.
MEELAL also said that the organisation has banned Manipuri film ‘Court Marriage’ and the film director Bimol Phibou. Tomba said that Bimol Phibou has been summoned to talk about the presence of foreign language in his film. As he did not turn up he has been banned from directing film for not following the order
