On the seventh visit of fact finding search protesting against crime on women, Women Action for Development pulled up one of the worse criminal offences; the alleged murder of Neikhohat Kilong(25) by her husband identified as Vijay from Jharkhand, a worker of BRTF.
Mentioned may be made that on the early morning of May 6, 2013, Neikhohat was seen last going for MGNREGS and never returned home. On the following day, that is on May 7, 2013 at around 02.00 pm her dead body was found at Monumphai area near Kondong Lairembi Moreh. According to post mortem report Neikhohat was murdered after hitting with a spade on her face. A blood stained club was also recovered from the spot where the victim’s body was found. According to report, a woman saw the victim accompanied by her husband before working for job card under MGNREGS. The culprit absconded from the day the murder took place.
A team led by Sobita Mangsatabam along with the media persons today visited the family members of Neikhohat at Moreh. Neikhohat left behind two sons – the eldest son was kept with a relative in Nagaland and the youngest one who is two and a half year old is looked after by Neikhohat’s father, Seikhochon. Seikhochon is half paralysed, looks after his wife who is a TB patient who has been bed ridden since the last three months. Seikhochon along with his grandson and his wife live in a hut and survive with the help given by Missionary sub charity of Mother Teresa and other church members and local people. Speaking to media Seikhochon said his wife has been suffering from TB since two years and there is no source to look after her health. He further said that he himself is paralysed and cannot go for work. He said that he had three daughters and two sons. All of them passed away except for the youngest son who now lives in Nagaland.
“There is no one to look after me and my family. During election I voted but no MLAS came for assistance. I cannot feed my wife and my grandson as myself is paralysed. I would like to see the person who killed my daughter and torture him the same way my daughter was killed,” said Seikhochon.
According to Moreh police, they have informed twice to the nearest station of Jharkhand police to find the whereabouts of the accused, Vijay Kumar (28) s/o. Meikel of Girjatoli, Ranchi.
