Assam Rifles Conducts Entrepreneurship Workshop at Ukhrul; inaugurates community Hall

Continuing with it’s series of philanthropic work, Somsai Battalion of 10 Sector Assam Rifles under the aegis of IGAR (South) conducted an Entrepreneurship Workshop on 29 May 2019 at Ukhrul.
The workshop was aimed at generating awareness amongst the local populace on commercial pig rearing and breeding, community farming, developments in agriculture, dairy and livestock and Integrated Farming System. Ms Zeinorin Stefan of Hill Wild Chocolate fame enlightened the participants with her journey on developing indigenous chocolates in Ukhrul. The farmers were provided guidance and expert advice by Mrs Yirmila Zimik from Krishi Vigyan Kendra  Ukhrul on Integrated  Farming. The biggest draw however was an in-depth workshop by Mr Manoj Kumar Basumatary, CEO Symbiotic Foods Pvt Ltd. on commercial pig breeding and rearing.
A large number of aspiring entrepreneurs from far off villages attended the workshop and interacted with experts. 20 participants were selected for an on job training capsule of three days at Symbiotic Foods Pvt Ltd at Tezpur, Assam. The expenses will be borne by the Assam Rifles.   
High level of enthusiasm was visible among the participants. This focused and genuine initiative of Assam Rifles has found immense appreciation among the local populace.
On the other hand, Moreh Battalion of 26 Sector Assam Rifles under the aegis of IGAR (South) constructed a community hall at New Mongjang village on 29 May 2019. The hall will serve as a common platform for the people of the community and will bring a spirit of unity, co-operation and harmony.
Assam rifles, apart from achieving it’s operational mandate on the challenging Indo-Myanmar border, it shares emotional connect with the people and strives to help in all possible ways in border areas. In this direction, when people of the New Mongjang village approached Moreh Battalion for a community hall for the village, the project was conceived under the Border Areas Development Programme. The work started expeditiously and construction of the community hall was done with in 40 days.
Community hall was inaugurated by daughter of Village Chief Thingneithe Haokip in the presence of Commandant, Moreh Battalion Assam Rifles. During the inauguration ceremony civil society organisations of various communities were also present.  The Village Chief, civil society organisations and villagers lauded the efforts of Assam Rifles for its noble gesture and appreciated the continued efforts of Assam Rifles in providing basic amenities in village.
