Mantripukhri and Tulihal Battalions of 9 Sector Assam Rifles under the aegis of IGAR (South) organised Community service and Security meet on 19 May 2019 with an aim to interact with the local populace as well as sensitise them in regards to existing security situation in the area.
The community service cum interaction was organised by YKPI Company Operating Base (COB) of Mantripukhri Battalion at Baptist Church in Urangpat village. The interaction was aimed to familiarise and orient troops of the COB with the locals as well as identify with their local customs and traditions. The event commenced with offering of prayers followed by an interaction with the villagers. The interaction proved to be of immense significance as over 200 villagers willingly shared their various issues of concern.
As part of the security meet conducted by Tulihal Battalion at Patsoi COB, locals were updated on current situation existing in the area of responsibility. There was also an interaction carried out on necessary measures required to be undertaken for maintaining a strict vigil against illicit activities in the area, future action plan in respect of civic action projects, recruitment in Assam Rifles and Army and career counseling for youth. The attendees were also sensitised regarding the increase in snake bite cases during summers and the help Assam Rifles can provide. The security forum was attended by the Meira Paibis, Ward Councilors along with representatives of local youth clubs.
The villagers expressed their gratitude towards Assam Rifles for connecting with them and extending their support to the villagers. Tea and refreshments were provided to the villagers after culmination of the interactive meets at the respective locations.
