TISS Mumbai Condoles the lost of Dr. Kengoo

The TISS fraternity expressed shocked to hear the news of the incident where Dr. Kengoo was found brutally murdered in his residence in Kotla Mubarakpur, South Delhi, and on the gruesome manner he was being murdered. The community at TISS came forward to pay tribute in the form of condolence to Dr. Kengoo, and in pondering upon the great loss to his family, TISS and society at large.
In expressing concern for Dr. Kengoo, a condolence service in his memory was conducted on November 21, 2014 at Main Campus Gate, Tata Institute of Social Sciences, Mumbai. Mourning the loss of a young scholar who would have done so much for the society the service was attended by TISS faculties, staff, students, alumni, Mumbai Police and locals. The service began by detailing his background and academic profile.
His PhD research supervisor at TISS, Mumbai – Prof. J.J Roy Burman, recollects his association with him. He mentioned that Dr. Kengoo came from a humble background; how his parents struggled to meet their son’s studies in Mumbai. He also remembered him as someone who is quite and sincere. He further stated that he mostly kept to himself . He found him to be a religious person, and he has no record of having any enemies. He remembered his visit to Ukhrul District, Manipur during Dr. Kengoo’s research work. He laments that his demise was a great lost to the society.
Prof. Anil Sutar, Chairman, Centre for Research Methodology also shared his experience with Dr. Kengoo and echoes Prof. Burman’s views about Dr. Kengoo. He reiterated that it is a great lost to TISS and society at large.
The Registrar TISS, Mumbai, Mohan Kumar expressed his shock in the manner in which Dr. Kengoo was found death at his residence in Delhi.
Charan a research scholar doing his PhD at TISS who was once Late Dr. Kengoo’s roomate broke down remembering how he was always there to help him out. He said that Dr. Kengoo always does his work within a stipulated time, and he is someone who is respected very much by everyone.
Monica Binny, PhD scholar at TISS who has known Late Dr. Kengoo for 6 years mentioned her disbelief and shock to the tragic news. She narrated of the time they spent together and applaud him for his sincerity. She pondered that everyone is mortal but the manner how he met his fate is highly condemnable. She wishes that justice is being delivered soon. Another friend of Dr. Kengoo- Dr. Amrita Sahu, his bacth mate, joined in, in giving her notes in his memory and the untimely loss. The TISS Students’ Union representative also expressed condolence over his tragic death.
Paying tribute to Dr. Kengoo, a minute of silence was observed in his memory by everyone present at the condolence service. The gathering came to an end with the lighting of candles in honour of Dr. Kengoo.
