Imphal, Nov 19:  Women Action for Development (WAD) highly condemned the alleged act of injuring six girl students by the police force while controlling the agitated mobs protesting against the rape and murder of Thiyam Bindyarani Devi by the accused Thiyam Sureshkumar at the premises of CJM Court Thoubal.

In a press statement, Sobita Mangsatabam, Secretary, WAD, said that the act of brutally treating the six girl students by the Police who were protesting in front of CJM Court, Thoubal against the rape and murder of Thiyam Bindyarani Devi by the accused Thiyam Sureshkumar was truly an act of injustice. She added that people lack trust and believe at the investigation system and the protocol of delivering justice from the past indices, though the accused was remanded for 5 days. She criticised for lack of mob control training to the security personnel.

She further added that the negligence of the Home department and prolonged trials of the convicts led to build distrust to the system from people perspectives.
