In its continued efforts to maintain peace and security in Manipur as part of overall security measures in view of upcoming elections, Tulihal Batallion of 9 Sector Assam Rifles under the aegis of IGAR (South), along with Manipur Police apprehended a sympathiser of PREPAK (PRO) from North AOC area of Imphal on 04 April.
The Battalion received a reliable input on 01 April regarding likely presence of a sympathiser of PREPAK (PRO) indulging in recruitment activities in the Imphal Valley. Since then, the Battalion with its strong intelligence network indentified the suspected individual, continuously monitored his movement and kept him under close surveillance.
In the morning hrs on 04 April, the suspected individual was spotted by the surveillance team of the Battalion and the input was promptly shared with Manipur Police based on which Imphal West Commandos launched an operation and apprehended the suspected individual from the North AOC area of Imphal. The individual has been identified as Moirangthem Ibungo Meitei. The apprehended individual confessed that he is involved in recruitment related activities for the outfit in the Imphal valley. The apprehended individual is with the Police for further legal action.
