Half marathon and quiz for SVEEP campaign in Kangpokpi

A Half-Marathon was organised yesterday as a part of SVEEP campaign in Kangpokpi District. The half-marathon was flagged off at 6.30 a.m by the Deputy Commissioner/DEO, Kangpokpi District Laithambigai K, IAS. The race was participated by Superintendent of Police, Kangpokpi Hemant Pandey IPS, ADC/ADM Lalramsang Infimate MCS, SVEEP Nodal Officer Chunglienmang MCS, Additional SP Emmanuel Infimate MPS, Major Subrata Debbarma of 38Assam Rifles, SDOs, Election Officer, District Level Officers, staffs of DC Office, students and youths of the district. It was promoted with the tagline “No runners to be left behind.”
The half-marathon completed at Thomas Ground, Kangpokpi District HQ. After the race, a quiz competition was also held at the same venue to give awareness to the public on inclusive voters and free and fair elections.
The DC, SP, ADM and Additional SP gave away the prizes to the winners of the half-marathon and quiz competition. A special prize was also given to a participant who got first among female participants. 
Speaking on the occasion, DC Lalithambigai stated that the half-marathon was organised as an awareness campaign for the use of EVM/VVPAT machines to all voters of the district and the idea of inclusive voters i.e no voters to be left behind. She also appreciated Major all participants and even the small kids who came out and won both the quiz and the race. The DC also extended her appreciation to SVEEP Nodal Officer Chunglienmang and his staffs, who despite of very limited time, organised and made the half-marathon and quiz a successful one.
Addressing the gathering, Chunglienmang stated that three polling stations have been identified as Model Polling Stations and will be manned by women polling personnel. He also thanked Major Subrata Debbarma of 38 Assam Rifles for his immense co-operation in organising the programme.
Later, an awareness programme of EVM/VVPAT was organised at Thomas Ground where the general public was given hands-on training on the use of EVM and VVPAT.
