National Voter’s Day celebrated

The 9th National Voter’s Day 2019 celebration was held  at Khuranganayani Hall,Imphal West, DC Office Complex, Lamphel, today with DC/DEO Imphal West.
Speaking on the occasion, DC/DEO Shri Naorem Praveen Singh said  that National Voter’s Day was first celebrated in the year 2011, today we are celebrating the 9th National Voter’s Day,. Being the largest democracy, there is no discrimination based on caste, creed and religion. When all the voters became aware of their voting rights and caste their votes,  the democratic process is fully functional, he added.
DEO appealed all the voters to choose  wisely, and vote for someone who will be working for the welfare and development of the people, don’t vote for someone just because he/she belongs to your caste/communities, instead choose a person who will be doing good for the whole society.
The function was organised by District Election Officer, Imphal West under the aegis of Election Commission of India and Chief Electoral Officer, Manipur with a theme “No Voter to be left Behind”
ID/Epic card, P-Cap and Theme T-Shirt was distributed to 35 newly enrolled voters of Imphal West.
The function was attended by ADM/ERO’s, Election Officer of Imphal West and Nodal Officer SVEEP among others.
The 9th National Voters’ Day 2019 was  also celebrated across the district under the auspices of District Election Officer, Churachandpur. The celebration was held at all the Sub-Divisional Headquarters while the District Level celebration was held at District Training Center, Tuibong.
During the celebration programme, newly enrolled voters were felicitated with presentation of their Electoral Photo Identity Card (EPIC), National Voters’ Day T-Shirt and caps. District Level Quiz Competition was also organized wherein students from several schools of the district took part. A painting competition was also organized in connection with the programme.
The National Voters’ Day pledge was also administered by the Chief Guest Krishna Kumar, IAS, Assistant Commissioner. In his speech, the Chief Guest stressed on the importance of exercising franchise and the right to vote. He also encouraged the newly eligible voters to participate in the electoral process with enthusiasm.
Niangngaihlian and Khailalmuan of Don Bosco School, won the first prize of the District Level Quiz Competition while Alex Pausuanmung and Ginpiaklian of Rayburn College were adjudged the 2nd position winners. T. Robert Suankhanthang and Ruth Nunnem won the 3rd position.
The painting competition was participated by everyone present in the programme and Jinita Hamam of JNV secured the 1st position while Miss Ruth Nunnem of Don Bosco and Mr. Seiminthang of Tuibuong Govt. H/S were adjudged the 2nd and 3rd prize winners respectively.
