AR Conducts Security Meet cum Friendly Volleyball Match

Mantripukhri Battalion of 9 Sector Assam Rifles under the aegis of HQ IGAR (South) conducted monthly security meet at Sawombung Company Operating Base.  The security meet was attended by Village Head men and members, Youth Club Secretary’s, Meira Paibis and Police representative. At the onset, troops exchanged New Year greetings and best wishes with the locals.
During the meet the locals were sanitised and updated on current situation existing in the area of responsibility. There was also an interaction carried out on necessary measures required to be undertaken by locals in synergy with Assam Rifles for maintaining a strict vigil against illicit activities in the area.  In addition to the security issues, future action plan in respect of civic action projects like medical camps, recruitment in Assam Rifles and Army and career counseling for youth were also discussed during the meet.
The locals expressed their gratitude and appreciated the efforts of Assam Rifles for conduct of such security meetings and ensuring peace in the area and assured their commitment and assistance in maintaining the same. The security meet concluded with tea and refreshments for all the attendees.
Chandel Battalion of 26 Sector Assam Rifles under the aegis of HQ IGAR (South) conducted a friendly volleyball match with the youth of Larong Khullen village at Larong Company Operating Base on 1st January 2019. A total of 14 youth from the village participated in the match.
The friendly match was organised as part of the week long Christmas celebration to mark the beginning of New Year. Such sports events are organised to keep the youth from remote villages motivated to take the righteous path and rejecting the path of insurgency, to identify potential sportsman for joining Assam Rifles and develop the bonhomie with local populace. The match concluded with an interaction with the players during tea and refreshments.
