Imphal, Dec29, Manipur Muslim Welfare Organization (MMWO) today staged a sit in protest at Hatta in Imphal today against the failure to follow the reservation roaster for the Muslim in the recently declared result for recruitment of Manipur Police Constable post. Reacting to the Chief Minister’s statement regarding the failure to follow reservation for Muslim during a public meeting held at Lilong yesterday, the Muslim body said that Minority Meitei Pangal have been deprived of their rights by adjusting their seat with the backlogged tribal quota. Chief Minister N. Biren Singh yesterday said that some of the seat meant for Metei Pangal have been adjusted with the backlogged quotas of the tribal. Phundreimayum Abdullah Pathan, President of the Manipur Muslim Welfare Organization (MMWO) said that never in the history of Manipur had ever witness adjustment of rights of the Minority. Phundreimayum Abdullah Pathan said that today’s sitin-protest is staged against the irregularities to the recent declaration of results of 2013 batch constables where four percent of the total seats reserves for OBC Meetei Pangal were not followed. Out of the total 2000 selected candidates 80 seats should be reserved for OBC Meetei Pangal but unfortunately only 61 OBC Meetei Pangal candidates were selected violating the reservation norms, he added. He appealed the government to find a solution as the state has violated the guidelines for reservation of seats for minority in the recruitment of government jobs. He urged the chief minister to clarify on the statement about the backlogged of 474 tribal candidates and asked whether there is any new law where backlogged seats are to be taken from the OBC seats not from the general seats. They felt blissful in selecting the deserved amount of candidates for the tribals and added that they also will not withstand any inadequacy in selection of the minority Meetei Pangal. It can be mentioned that a memorandum has been submitted to the CM to reserved seats for minority. Abdullah Pathan warned the government of intense agitation if the government fails to find a quick possible solution to for protecting the rights of the Minority Meitei Pangal.
