Chavang Kut celeberated with much fan fare

Chin-Kuki-Mizo largest festival Chavang Kut is being observed in the state. The main function is held at 1st MR parade ground. Chavang-Kut‘, the autumn post harvest festival is celebrated with great enthusiasm by the Kuki tribes in the region since time immemorial. One of the most popular event of the festival Miss Kut contest now has overshadowed the traditional part of the Chavang Kut Festival which is celebrated every year by Chin-Kuki Mizo and Zo tribes in the state.The morning session of the festival was attended by Deputy Chief Minister Gaikhangam as the Chief Guest. IFCD Minister Ngamthang Haokip, PHED Minister I Hemochandra, other Ministers, MLAs and government officials graced the occasion as dignitaries.Speaking on the occasion Deputy Chief Minister Gaikhangam stressed on the significance of Chavang Kut festival. He said the unique cultural identifies is the gift of the almighty.The festival which is being celebrated with cultural flavour is the living example of our unique identity, Gaikhangam said. He further said that we need to protest the identity of each tribe comes under the Chin –Kuki Mizo tribes.“Please take the lead to bring about unity and prosperity of the human kind with the celebration of the Kut festival”, Gaikhangam said He said while there are lots of extravaganzas in the celebration of Kut, we should not forget that it is the work culture is being encouraged and celebrated in the Kut festival.PHED Minister I Hemochandra while speaking on the occasion said that Kut festival has become the festival of the entire state. The festival symbolised the love and the unity flourish among various people of the state.

In nagaland it is call as chavang kut. In assam it is also call as chavang kut. Why only in imphal it is call ‘KUT’. Kut only doesnt make sense to me. Kut means celebration, something has to be added chavang than it will make sense. I wonder why it is aways written as KUT only. I hope and pray that this coming nov.1 Chavang kut will be written in the big back drop.
