National re-dedication day observed; CM calls for strengthening integrity of the country

 As done in other parts of the country, Rashtriya Sankalp Diwas (National Rededication Day) was observed with Chief Minister  N. Biren Singh as the chief guest at the conference hall of Manipur Secretariat (South Block) today. The observance was organised to mark the death anniversary of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi.
Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Minister remembered Indira Gandhi’s contributions in safeguarding the integrity of India and bringing the country forward towards advancement and development. He urged the people of the State to take the pledge of strengthening the integrity and unity of the country following her ideals.
Stating that the day was observed on the death anniversary of the former Prime Minister to remember her sacrifices made for the country, the Chief Minister said that Indira Gandhi was an outstanding and dedicated leader of the country who was so prominent at the international level as well. He also urged the people to uphold her principles and make India a powerful and united country.
On the other hand, the Chief Minister also expressed serious concern over alleged involvement of some functionaries of a civil society organisation in Nagamapal blast which killed one CRPF man and injured another personnel. It is unfortunate to find weapons in the possession of CSO leaders, who are working for the masses, he said. After the incident, Shri N. Biren Singh said, he feels the need for further strengthening security in the State.
Deputy Chief Minister Shri Y. Joykumar, who attended the observance as the functional president, opined that the strength of the country lies in its unity. On her death anniversary, the present generation must appreciate Indira Gandhi’s roles in nation building and maintaining unity, the Deputy Chief Minister said. He said that the country should never forget her sacrifices.
Ministers, MLAs and high ranking civil and police officers also attended the observance. Teachers and students of Shri Shri Balmukunda Dev Music College presented patriotic opening and closing songs.
