80-year old man assaulted by suspected UGs at Irang Bridge; villagers condemn

An 80 year old man name Limlungpou Longmei of Buanruang, Taodaijang under Nungba Subdivision of Tamenglong District was allegedly assaulted by suspected cadres of Zeliangrong United Front (ZUF) without valid reason on Sunday around 2.30 pm at Irang Bridge connecting Khoupum.

The villagers strongly condemned the assaulters in its strongest term, a press note signed by Village Authority of Buanruang, Taodaijang said adding that attack on innocent civilians by ZUF cadres has tremendously increased in the recent past.

Limlungpou Longmei is a chowkidar of the Key Stone construction company which is under-taking the road construction works at the site where he was assaulted, the press note added.

The village authority of Buanruang, Taodaijang also appealed the law enforcing agency to take necessary action against the perpetrators so that such uncivilized act of assault on elderly person is not repeated in future.
