State observes Surgical Strike Day; CM seeks support to bring a solution to MU row

Chief Minister N. Biren Singh said that the government seeks the support and co-operation of the people and media to find a solution on the Manipur University issue. This was stated by him at the Surgical Strike Day Observation held at Banquet Hall of 1 M.R. Battalion, Imphal today.
 Speaking as Chief Guest of the function, Chief Minister said that we all must join our hands together to bring an amicable solution on the issue. He maintained that the government is open to hold meeting with the representatives of MUTA, MUSA and MUSU for a fruitful dialogue to bring solve the MU row. He stated that the government had invited the MU community for talks today but they turned it down for their own reasons. In the meantime, the government will sent another invitation when they are ready for talk so that the 3 months long agitation would be put to an end. He believed that the MUTA, MUSU and MUSA would hear the earnest appeal of the government to restore normalcy in the Manipur University.
Appreciating the people of the State for their positive feedbacks and response during the bandh recently, Chief Minister thanked the people for showing maturity and refraining from any violent acts during the bandh. Since the installation of the present government, Manipur is experiencing positive change. And no unwanted incidents have taken place in the last 18 months, he added. He urged the people to join hands together to build a better Manipur.
Mentioning the contribution of Manipuris in the Nation Building, Chief Minister said that Manipur has produced highest number of Army Officers in per capita by any State in the country. The State has produced two Lieutenant Generals in the Indian Army so far. There are around 300 Army officers serving the Nation, he added. He thanked the Army and Paramilitary officials for extending their valuable help during natural calamities such as flood, landslides which have occurred in the State.  
Chief Minister highlighted that India believes in universal values of humanism and is a peace loving country. The world must member that we are the founder members of Non-Aligned Movement. India also believes in holding political dialogue to bring a solution with any country, he added.
Deputy Chief Minister Y. Joykumar Singh presided the function. Cabinet Ministers, MLAs, Chief Secretary, DGP, top Army Officers, top civil and police officers attended the function.
