Vice Chancellor of Manipur University Prof. AP Pandey has been put under suspension till the completion of the enquiry by the President of India in the capacity as Visitor of Manipur University with effect from yesterday.
An order of the MHRD signed by Deputy secretary to the Govt. of India , Surat Singh stated – “ … the President of India in his capacity as visitor of the Manipur University on consideration of material on record and taking the account volatile law and order situation in the campus of Manipur University and in exercise of the powers conferred on him under provision of statute 13(1) of the statute of Manipur University Act , 2005 and with section 16 of the general Clause Act , 1897 is pleased to place Prof. Adya Pandey, Vice Chancellor under suspension with immediate effect and till completion of the enquiry and action to be taken thereon in the interest of justice for free and fair enquiry or till further order”.
The order was issued yesterday after sequence of events taken place by the action of AP Pandey which deteriorated the atmosphere of the Manipur University.
