Students of MUSU RDC and Joint Student Coordination Committee (JSCC) vandalized the Administrative block of Manipur University today at around 12.15 pm. The protesting students after confronting the security guards at main gate of Administrative office block broke the lock of the gate and subsequently damaged the flower vase, CC TV camera and cashier counter. Later Singjamei Police came to the spot and brought the situation under control.Speaking to media persons, Convenor, MUSU RDC, Thokchom Suresh said the student bodies have earlier boycotted the VC and Registrar of the University from attending any meetings or programs and demanded clarification from the MU authority on the propose Central Institution Educational reservation (Amendment Act 2012). However, the VC and registrar violating the restriction imposed by the students’ body attended a function yesterday at MU campus. Suresh further said that, today’s protest was against the involvement of VC and registrar in functions of MU and such protest would continue against any violation in future.
