State Observed Sadbhavana Diwas

Sadbhavana  Diwas, marking the 74th birth anniversary of the former Prime Minister of India  late Shri Rajiv Gandhi was observed at Banquet Hall, 1st Battalion Manipur Rifles, Imphal today. The function was organised by Government of Manipur.

Speaking at the function as Chief Guest Agriculture, Vety. & AH Minister Shri V.Hangkhanlian said that “To keep our country united and strong, we need to build up good idea and relationship among us and march ahead, keep in mind the far sightedness, rationality and the ability to take right decision in hard time possessed by our past leaders”.

Reminding that Sadbhavana Diwas as we have been observing the 20th of August every year, the birth anniversary of former Prime Minister of India late Shri Rajiv Gandhi. The meaning and value of observing such a day is very important in our country where there were diverse elements. The observance of today’s auspicious function will be complement to bringing peace, harmony and keeping our country strong and united.

Asserting that the observance also going to build the nation that is essential for the people to understand the real value and meaning of the function. Untowards incidents and violances causes lives and properties, disturbances and hamper the road of development and bring destruction in building a united India. If we are going to go in par with other country or nation in the ray of development in the world we have to forget mutual disbelieve and narrow communal notion among us.

The Minister appealed to the people of Manipur to take the observance as an opportunity of sharing positive and progressive idea and help the government for overall development of the country and to forsake the ideas of selfishness to bring cordial relationship to make Manipur a develop state and let us pledge again to take full responsibility in our duty towards the objectives.

Functional President of the observance Education, Labour and Employment  Minister Shri Th.Radheshyam said that Sadbhavana Diwas was observe today to remember and pay respect to former  late Prime Minister Shri Rajiv Gandhi on his 74th birth anniversary who  has propagated unity and harmony of different communities in the country.

The importance of observance of the day was to make strengthening a bond of love and unity among the diverse languages and communities of the country.

Minister Radheshyam recalled that Rajiv Gandhi was a great leader who have founded new dynamic policy when instability was there in legislative in the politics of India in the year 1985 and brought up a new resolution who banned politics defection by introducing Anti-defection bill in the Parliament and make lowered the voting age from 21 to 18 among others.

Saying the age old tradition of living together peacefully and harmoniously in the country in unity in diversity is being disturbed today by the enmity and hatred amongst different communities and by the act of violence. He maintained that in view of such a situation the observance of Sadbhavana Diwas was more significances and recalled that Rajiv Gandhi as a leader who transformed India in the field of Sciences and Technologies and Educational sectors.

He appealed to the gathering that to fulfil the dreams of Rajiv Gandhi peaceful and developed nation let us rededicate ourselves for the unity of India.

Later, the Chief Guest administered a Sadbhavana pledge in the function.

Council of Ministers, Additional Chief Secretary, DGP and top police and civil officials have attended the function among others.
