Congress breaks silence over development at MU; Formed High level committee to look into the matter

Ongoing impasse at Manipur University which totally break down academic atmosphere in the University has been seriously noted by the opposition congress Party. A High level committee under the Chairmanship of former dy. CM Gaikhangam has been monitoring the development and the party after finding the prima facie evidences is all set to take the issue to the highest authority and to the Parliament.
“What has been going on in the Manipur University is very unfortunate and have been monitoring the development since the last few days after forming a high level committee chaired by senior member Gaikhangam”, Debabratta, Spokesperson of the MPCC said to this reporter while talking over phone.
He further said that there are prima facie evidences of the financial irregularities on the side of the Vice Chancellor and the Congress had almost met all stakeholders except the students regarding the misutilisations of fund by the Vice Chancellor, the Congress Spokesperson said.
He further added that procurement of a bullet proof vehicle from University exchequer as well as spent of money at large scale for his travel outside the state has been all noted and the committee is serious to the matter.
Beside Gaikhangam and Debabratta, Former MLA Dr. Ng. Bijoy, who is also a former VC of the Manipur University, MLA Govindas Konthoujam, MLA K Ranjit and MPCC spokesperson Hareshwar Goswami are also member of the high level committee committee.
Meanwhile, source close to the Imphal Times said that the Vice Chancellor Adiya Prasad Pandey is now trying to get in touch with the agitating students as well as the members of the MUTA since yesterday. However, as of now none of the members from either the side of MUSU or the MUTA has showed solidarity to the VC.
Meanwhile, report said that some member of the MUTA had met the High Level Committee of the Congress Chaired by Gaikhangam. Details of the conversation could not be known as of now but it is expected that VC’s irregularities and misappropriation of University exchequer has been discussed in depth.
Source, also added that the head of departments of the Manipur University are also likely to tender resignation tomorrow if no amicable solution is brought to the ongoing impasse.
