CSO demands appropriate punishment to rapists

Imphal, April 8,

Innovative Peoples’ Empowerment centre, a civil society organisation based at Uchiwa under Myang Imphal Police station today demanded appropriate punishment to rapists who were released on bail.
The 4 rape accused allegedly took a 35 years old lady on a Alto car bearing registration number MN 01 G 7568 at around 3 pm  of March 11 from her locality and was set free at around 8 pm of the same night. As people of the area suspected the way that the women was dropped, proper enquiry has been conducted and finally the local came to know that she was raped and left. Following the incident the family members of the woman lodged a complaint at Mayang Imphal Police station on March 12 and the police pulled up all the four rape accused identified as Heisnam Sanatomba (40 years) son of Yaikul from Hiyangkhong , Ningombam Samungou (51 years) son of late Biramani , Laishram Manithoi (38 years) son of Manaobi and Salam Rabi (54 years ) son of Rajen of Lhupat Tera. All the four were released on bail after producing to the Judicial Magistrate Imphal West.
The four rape accused will be produced at the Fast Track Court tomorrow. The Innovative Peoples’ Empowerment centre demanded speedy trial and punishment of the four rape accused and threaten intense form of agitation if they are released on bail again.
The organisation also demanded the medical report which was conducted on March 14 which is still in the hand of the SP Imphal West.
