Rebel body CorCom calls on people to stand up for their rights; pay respect to Imas of Nupilal

Imphal, Dec 10: Conglomerate of rebel groups operating in the region CorCom warns the government of India for violation of human rights of the people of the region while greeting and supporting the human rights defenders fighting for the cause of the peoples’ rights across the globe on occasion of the International Human Rights Day which falls today.

The joint body of the rebel groups also greets and pay respect to the people of the state as well as to those who had courageously raised for the people of the region on occasion of the 78th Nupilal Day (Women’s War) which falls on December 12.

On the issue of the human rights, the rebel group said that till today many in the region are still deprived of their rights due to error in administration and the colonial attitude of the government. As a result, in-humanitarian crime like mass massacre, genocide to wipe out a community and policy to incite hate feeling and enmity among different community are on the rise. Due to state sponsored terrorism seen in most fail state across the globe has made youngster fallen as victims of HIV and AIDS, when many are force to give up their life in battlefield, the statement said.

Quoting the speech of General Federico Mayor, Director of UNESCO, the statement said that the only possible means to guarantee human rights for all is to find a lasting solution to all sort of conflict between in the region

Rights of every people is inborn gift and among all other gift right to live independent is the most important rights of human being, the statement said.

Recalling on the declaration of Human Rights by the United Nations General Assembly on December 10, 1948, the CorCom statement said that every rights including right to freedom. The statement also elaborated on the contents of the International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights and International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights. It said people across the world are following the Bill of Human Rights.

Coming to Manipur Kangleipak , CorCom statement said that right to improve social and economic status as well as right to self determination have been deprived by India. Fundamental rights granted in the provision of the Indian constitution like right to life , education exist for name shake only as it do not reach the people. The statement also stated how the rights of the people are being violated by imposition of act like AFSPA which is a license to kill even civilian. It further said that the aged old relationship between hill and plain people had been separated by spewing venom continuously.

The CorCom calls on people to stand up together to fight for their rights.

The rebel group also pay respect to the ladies of the land who had courageously struggle for the rights of the people on various issues on occasion of the 78th Nupi Lal (Women’s War) which falls on December 12.

The statement recalled on how the women of the region raised war against the then colonial British regime in 1904 and 1939.

The statement further added that women of the region still continue to fight for justice till today. It appeals the people to get ready for a 3rd Nupi Lal as the people of the region are still yet to get its rights.
