Imphal, June 21:

Manipur Chief Minister N. Biren Singh has expressed optimism that a resolution would be achieved within the next 2-3 months. He added that a significant reduction in violence across the state could be seen, highlighting that out of the 14 months during which incidents were recorded, the actual crisis persisted for only 6-7 months.
Addressing reporters, CM Biren Singh remarked, “Violence is everywhere, and it has reduced particularly in Manipur. Despite incidents in other places, schools and business establishments across the state have opened, indicating a return to normalcy.”
He further clarified, “The actual crisis occurred in only 6-7 months, suggesting that the other 7 months were peaceful as schools and business establishments were opening.”
The Chief Minister acknowledged that violence continues in some areas due to a lack of security personnel. However, he assured that the situation is improving as security forces who had left for election duties have returned and been redeployed in vulnerable areas. “Now, the situation will be better,” he added.
N. Biren Singh also addressed claims of continuous instigation of violence in the state, pointing to external factors as the root of the crisis. He stated, “The unrest in Northeast India is due to influx and drug menace from areas outside the region. Treating the situation will be easier once the route is identified.”
He emphasized that resolving the violence in Manipur is a top priority for the Modi 3.0 administration. Home Minister Amit Shah has been actively involved, holding high-security meetings and gathering necessary details to formulate an action plan. “I hope that a solution is achieved within 2-3 months,” he said.
