Imphal, June 29 : A man shot dead his second wife last night at Bishnupur district’s Kwakta Khuman Thongkhong under Moirang Police Station.
Police said the incident took place at Ward No 8 of Kwakta Khuman Thongkhong at around 11:30 pm.
The accused husband, Md Safi, 45, son of late Atonababu, fatally shot his wife identified as Sharmila Bibi, 36, daughter of Jalauddin at her parental home.
The victim wife is said to be a mother of two—a 13-year-old daughter and a 9-year-old son.
Accused Md Safi is a jawan belonging to 8th Manipur Rifles hailing from Thoubal district. He has been staying with his first wife at Sangaiyumpham village of Thoubal.
Police have recovered the body and sent it for post mortem.
