Home Minister Rajnath Singh arrives at Imphal; visits Moreh

Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh today arrived in the state and took stalk of the proposed site for construction of the Integrated Check Post at the Indo Myanmar Border and the Immigration Check post. The Union Home Minister also held a meeting with the authorities of the 9 Assam Rifles and reviews the situation at the border town. Source said the Home Minister was briefed about the presence of rebel group in the neighbouring Myanmar country and their movement across the border. Mr. Rajnath was accompanied by MoS, Home Kiran Jiju and Joint Secy. of Ministry of Home Affairs (NE- in charge). He was received by Commerce and Industries Minister Govindas and MLA DK Korungthang at the border town. The Union Home Minister and the MoS arrived at Imphal Airport at 12.35 pm by a special flight of BSF. They were received by Deputy Chief Minister Gaikhangam and Principal Secretary Home Dr. Suresh Babu at the Tulihal Airport earlier. The Home Himister flew to Moreh by a Helicopter from Kangla to Moreh. The Home Minister later return back to Imphal at around 5.00 pm and a meeting is scheduled to have with the office bearers of the state BJP unit at Hotel Classic Imphal. 
Meanwhile, security has been beefed up in and around Imphal in view of the high profile Home Minister’s visit to the state. Since early morning today security were seen performing their duty at Tiddim road, and other streets of Imphal city.
