Governor reviews Manipur’s COVID-19 preparedness amid resurgence alert

Manipur Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla chaired a high-level COVID-19 review meeting today at the Conference Hall of Raj Bhavan, Imphal. The meeting was convened in light of recent advisories issued by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW), Government of India, urging states to step up preparedness in view of a possible resurgence of COVID-19 cases.
The meeting was attended by the Chief Secretary, senior officials from the State Health Department, and representatives of various concerned departments.
During the session, officials briefed the Governor on the state’s level of preparedness, including the status of diagnostics, availability of protective equipment, oxygen supply systems, ICU and isolation wards, and essential drug stocks. The functioning of the Integrated Disease Surveillance Programme through the IHIP portal was also reviewed.
Challenges such as testing capacity limitations, medical logistics, and overall hospital readiness were brought to the Governor’s attention.
Governor Bhalla stressed the need for a proactive approach and emphasised strengthening medical infrastructure and ensuring wide community awareness. He urged all departments to coordinate effectively to maintain a high level of readiness and prevent any public health crisis arising from a potential surge in COVID-19 cases.
