A Riverside Open Gym constructed along the Nambul River was inaugurated today. The gym, donated by former BJP candidate Elangbam Johnson Singh from Keishamthong Assembly Constituency, aims to promote fitness and well-being among the public.
Speaking at the inaugural function, Elangbam Johnson, who is also the former President of the United Committee Manipur (UCM), expressed concerns over the ongoing crisis in the state, stating that it has severely impacted normalcy. He emphasized the need for stronger measures to curb provocative statements made by organizations such as COTU, ITLF, and other Kuki CSOs, warning that failure to address such issues could prolong the unrest.
He urged the government to implement effective strategies to contain the crisis, asserting that a solution could only be achieved if Prime Minister Narendra Modi directly engages with the people of Manipur. He also stressed the importance of consultation with the Union Home Minister to resolve the conflict without compromising the historical integrity of the state.
Johnson further called on elected representatives to work together towards forming a stable and popular government. Additionally, he appealed to civil society organizations (CSOs) to remain vigilant regarding any moves by the government that could impact the state’s interests.
