Government and private sector need to join hands – CM O. Ibobi singh

Chief Minister Shri Okram Ibobi Singh today formally inaugurated Manipur’s first open heart surgery at the Sky Hospital & Research Centre, RIMS Road, Imphal.
Speaking at the inaugural function held at IMA House, Lamphelpat Chief Minister Shri O. Ibobi Singh said that to accomplish the desired target in health and education sectors, government and private sector need to join hands. Reiterating that the government is giving top priority in health and education sector, Chief Minister said that one cannot wait for time and money in the case of starting education and treatment for diseases. Congratulating the Sky Hospital team especially it’s Chairman and Chief Cardiologist Dr. Shyamkishore Lairikyengbam for this achievement, Shri Ibobi continued that with the availability of open heart surgery facility patients from other neighbouring states and from Myanmar will now be coming to Manipur. Saying that the talents of our youths in medical, engineering and IT sectors are not below the world standard, CM said that with the latest and improved medical infrastructures and better connectivity Medical tourism can be developed  in Manipur. We should do something for the society if we are born as a human being, he added.
Giving the Keynote address, the Chairman of Sky Hospital Dr. Shyamkishore said that with the starting of Open Heart surgery at Sky Hospital & Research Centre, its formal inauguration is done today, so far 23 open heart surgery and 6 closed heart surgery have been successfully performed. Expressing his happiness over the achievement, Dr Shyamkumar said it has been a long cherished dream of every Manipuri that when will we have the open heart surgery facility in Manipur. He said patients from Assam, Nagaland, Mizoram and from neighbouring country Myanmar have come for treatment and now any kind of open heart surgery, by-pass surgery and closed heart surgery can be performed at Sky hospital.
Earlier, Chief Minister had visited the Cardio-Thoracic and Vascular Surgery (CTVS) Operation Theatre Complex of the Sky Hospital where he was shown the equipments and the facilities installed to conduct the open heart surgery.
Health Minister D.K. Korungthang, Chief Secretary O. Nabakishore Singh and Commissioner Health P.K. Singh were also present in the function.
