‘Give us education, stop fighting between teachers v/s govt’ demand students

Imphal, March 17: In protest against the ongoing cease work strike by All Manipur College Teachers Association (AMCTA), students of various colleges today prevented the teachers from entering inside the college campus and staged protest rally.

At around 10 AM students o various colleges including Imphal College, GP Women’s College, Manipur College, CI College and Moirang college gathered at Imphal College and discussed the development arising out of the cease work strike by AMCTA.

During the meeting teachers were not allowed to enter the college premises. Later the students came out to the street and proceed protest rally towards CM’s bungalow. The students were demanding regular classes which have remained cancelled due to the strike of AMCTA.

A team of police stopped the rally at Keishampat junction and prevented them from moving beyond the location. The police faced hard time to control the rallyists. The students later blocked one side of the road and staged sit-in-protest.

Various slogans like ‘We want to study’, ‘Stop fighting’, ‘Give education’ etc were shouted during the protest.

Later the police team allowed some representative of the students to meet the Chief Minister and convey their grievances.
