Centre for Tribal and Endangered Languages Promotion Board (CTELPB) alleged that an Australian based University withdrew a huge amount of fund from National Science Foundation, Australia in the name of documenting ‘Monsang’ language which has already been documented by the Government of India in 2010.Speaking to media in a press conference at Manipur Press Club, Convenor, CTELPB, Dr. Th. Chandramani said that ‘Monsang’ language has already been documented by the Government of India in 2010 under Eleven five year plan. Early this year, Scot Delancy University of Origon (UO) Australia had withdrawn 3 Lacs USD from National Science Foundation, Australia under the project of documenting ‘Monsang’ language in collaboration with a nonexistent organisation called ‘Chandel Endangered Language Committee’ and Manipur University Linguistic Department which claimed to have no idea about the fund, said Chandramani. He further said that a memorandum will be submitted later to the Joint Secretary of Language, Ministry of HRD regarding the issue.
