Fund fraudulently withdrawn in the name of documenting Monsang language

Centre for Tribal and Endangered Languages Promotion Board (CTELPB) alleged that an Australian based University withdrew a huge amount of fund from National Science Foundation, Australia in the name of documenting ‘Monsang’ language which has already been documented by the Government of India in 2010.Speaking to media in a press conference at Manipur Press Club, Convenor, CTELPB, Dr. Th. Chandramani said that ‘Monsang’ language has already been documented by the Government of India in 2010 under Eleven five year plan. Early this year, Scot Delancy University of Origon (UO) Australia had withdrawn 3 Lacs USD from National Science Foundation, Australia under the project of documenting ‘Monsang’ language in collaboration with a nonexistent organisation called ‘Chandel Endangered Language Committee’ and Manipur University Linguistic Department which claimed to have no idea about the fund, said Chandramani. He further said that a memorandum will be submitted later to the Joint Secretary of Language, Ministry of HRD regarding the issue.

This is a non issue. Who are we to stop Australian Government or US Government or GB Government or so doing further documentation of Monshang language. Are we jealous of others' greater efforts for the development of the downtrodden, Dr. Chandramani? Dr. Chandramani, your phone was ringing but you chose not to receive my call, so, this my post.

CTELPB Convenor, Dr. Th. Chandramani ignored to consult its members before calling the Press Conference. I contradict to his thought of envying 3 lakhs of USD earmarked for the development of Monshang language by the Australian Government.

This is a scholastic grant that was applied to work on Monsang language. One can always work on a particular language a number of times. The grant is given only to the university of that country. It is known and supported by the Monsang community. The organisation called Chandel Endangered languages committee exist but is not registered as just the one headed by Th.Chandramani is not registered. Mr. Th. Chandramani, without knowledge of anything, should refrain from issuing public notices and without his committee members' s knowledge. Prof. Yashawanta Singh of Manipur University, who is also a member of Chandramani's committee, will be the right person to enquire about the matter. The grant is not a reserved fund for the Monsang or anybody. Its for people who applies to work for the language. IT should have enquired the matter properly before publishing it.

It is none of your business Mr.Th. Chandramani.You did not own the Monsang tribe.What can you do for the tribe?Don't bring out such false and pathetic statements and try to tarnish the good works done for the monsang language.You mind your own business and act like a gentleman and in scholarly manner.
