Former Chairman of the United National Liberation Front (UNLF), RK Meghen, today called upon the indigenous communities of Manipur to rise above ethnic divisions and unite in the interest of safeguarding the territorial integrity of the state. He was speaking at a prayer ceremony organised at the Ibudhou Pakhangba Temple within Kangla Fort, Imphal.
The ceremony, jointly organised by 13 organisations under the banner of the Peace Committee Manipur, aimed at promoting peace, communal harmony, and solidarity among the various indigenous communities of the state.
Addressing the gathering, RK Meghen stressed the need for unity among different civil society groups and organisations working across various ideological lines. He termed the prayer event as a meaningful step towards bringing together all those working for peace and justice in their respective domains.
“This initiative marks the beginning of a collective effort to align our visions and build a unified front,” Meghen stated. He reminded the gathering of the shared responsibility to protect both the unity of the people and the territorial boundary of Manipur.
Highlighting the symbolic importance of Kangla as a cultural and historical site, Meghen said it stands as a reminder of the people’s collective identity and their strength in unity.
He further appealed to all civil society groups to set aside their differences and work together towards a common goal rooted in peace, mutual respect, and the protection of Manipur’s integrity.
The event was attended by community leaders, scholars, youth activists, and religious representatives, who collectively echoed the message of unity and peaceful coexistence for a stable and inclusive Manipur.
