Amid ongoing law and order concerns in Manipur, the district administrations of Bishnupur and Jiribam have taken proactive steps to ensure uninterrupted and safe agricultural activities in their respective fringe areas by deploying Flying Squads comprising Sub-Deputy Collectors (SDCs).
In Bishnupur district, the District Magistrate has deputed six SDCs to serve as members of Flying Squads following a directive from the Superintendent of Police dated July 4. The appointed officers include Thoidingjam Shambhunath (Nambol Circle), Akoijam Punshiba Meetei (Oinam Circle), P. Rakeshchand Singh (Bishnupur Circle), Robert Okram (Ningthoukhong Circle), Boinao Singh Oinam (Moirang Circle), and Mairembam Saileishrai (Kumbi Circle). Each officer has been assigned a specific jurisdiction and is tasked with providing timely intervention to facilitate peaceful farming activities. The deployment remains in effect until further notice.
Similarly, in Jiribam district, the District Magistrate has issued an order detailing two SDCs—Atom Bijendro Singh (SDC, Jiribam) and Moirangthem Devananda Singh (SDC, Borobekra)—as heads of Flying Squad Teams (FSTs) in their respective sub-divisions. Their role includes addressing disputes, clarifying complaints, and coordinating with Police and Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) to safeguard cultivation in vulnerable zones.
Both district administrations have emphasized close coordination between Flying Squad Teams, Sub-Divisional Agriculture Officers, and law enforcement personnel. In Jiribam, the Additional District Magistrate has been tasked with supervising the entire operation, while nodal officers Shri Th. Manoranjan Singh and Md. Naeem Ahamed Shah have been designated as contact points for farmers and associations.
The Flying Squad members in both districts are required to submit weekly reports on the ground situation, helping authorities monitor developments and respond swiftly to emerging issues. The initiatives reflect a growing administrative effort to secure the livelihood of farmers amid ongoing regional tensions and ensure that cultivation continues without disruption.
