Ukhrul Oct 25:
In a ceremony held on Friday at Union Baptist Church, Phungreitang, Ukhrul, the AC Kanmi Foundation (KF) awarded its first-ever AC Kanmi Award of Excellence 2024 to Rev. Dr. Tuisem A. Shishak. Dr. Shishak, a revered educationist, founder of Patkai Christian College in Chumukedima, (PCC) Nagaland, and Patkai Christian Academy ( PCA) in Changraphung, Ukhrul, was recognized for his decades-long commitment to education and his impactful service to the community.
During the event, Eno. Aran Chihui, the founder of AC Kanmi Foundation, delivered an inspiring keynote address, emphasizing the importance of humility and appreciation for others’ contributions. “In today’s society, it takes courage and humility to recognize the achievements of others. With this award, we acknowledge Rev. Dr. Tuisem Shishak’s unparalleled dedication and service to our people,” Chihui stated.
In his acceptance speech, Rev. Dr. Shishak expressed deep gratitude to both the community and the AC Kanmi Foundation for the honor. “I never knew there was such a foundation, and I never imagined I would be acknowledged by our community in this way. But here I am, and I am grateful to God for everything,” he remarked. He continued with a call to unity in faith, reminding those present of the Christian duty to live peacefully: “In Christ, we are one. We must stand up and say, ‘This is not right’ when we see injustice. As ordained reverends, we are called to speak God’s truth without compromise.”
Rev. Dr. Shishak’s journey as an educationist spans several decades. A native of Shangshak village, he founded Patkai Christian College, which has become one of the most distinguished institutions in Nagaland and Northeast India, nurturing students who have gone on to serve as IAS officers and high-ranking government officials. Today, he continues to serve his community, upholding his belief that “education is the key to growth and development.”
The award was presented by Qr. Sword Vashum, President of Tangkhul Naga Long, who commended Dr. Shishak for his enduring service and stated, “This award is truly deserved; it is your work and dedication that we honor today.”
The award ceremony also served as a tribute to the late AC Kanmi, a native of Khangkhui village, whose commitment to public service spanned 39 years with the Manipur Government. Starting as an enumerator, Kanmi advanced to become a respected Manipur Civil Service officer, dedicated to his duties until his retirement. To honor his legacy, his children established the AC Kanmi Foundation, supporting causes that uplift the community.
The event, organized by the AC Kanmi Foundation in collaboration with Color Basket Ltd., Ukhrul’s first registered commercial digital printing press, was attended by reverends, pastors, senior citizens, Tangkhul Frontal Organisations and notable members of the Tangkhul community.
