Fast-unto-death protest: 2 picked up, another 2 begins

Two members of the Thawai Meerel group – a women’s Civil Society group, who had begun a fast-unto-death protest yesterday were picked up by a team of state police.
The two members of the Thawai Meerel group – Nepram Ganga Leima and ChongthamPramoDevi began a fast-unto-death protest at the waiting shed of Torban Kshetri Leikai in Imphal East under Singjamei Police Station. The two members began the fast-unto-death protest yesterday after government gave no response to the relay hunger strike for 9 days.
A team of state police picked up Nepram Ganga Leima and Chongtham Pramo Devi at around 7.30 am today morning from the shed at Singjamei Torban Kshetri Leikai. After both were picked up another two members of the Thawai Meerel group continued the fast-unto-death protest from 9.30 am today. 57 years old B. Malaya and 53 years old S. Thoibi, both from Singjamei Torban Kshetri Leikai said that until peace is restored in the state by removing the Assam Rifles and by driving out all armed narco-terrorists from the soil of the state.
