Family of Manipur crew member awaits confirmation after Ahmedabad Plane Crash

The family of Kongbrailatpam Nganthoi, a cabin crew member from Thoubal Awang Leikai, Manipur, is anxiously awaiting official confirmation of her status following the tragic crash of an Air India flight near Ahmedabad.
A team of volunteers led by the president of EMA Trust visited Nganthoi’s residence on Friday to express solidarity and extend support to her grieving family. The Trust and the family members shared their deep concern, stating that although Nganthoi’s name has reportedly appeared among the victims, there is still no official confirmation regarding her condition.
Family members revealed that there has been no direct communication from Nganthoi since the incident. While there are reports suggesting that a mobile phone believed to belong to her was recovered from the crash site, the authorities have yet to verify whether it indeed belonged to her. This lack of clarity has added to the family’s distress and uncertainty.
Speaking to reporters, the EMA Trust president said, “We came here to show our support and to let the family know they are not alone. The pain of not knowing is unbearable, and we urge the concerned authorities to expedite the identification process.”
To assist in confirming the identity of the recovered remains, Nganthoi’s younger sister, Geetanjali, is travelling to Ahmedabad from Imphal. A DNA test will be conducted to ascertain if any of the remains belong to the 20-year-old crew member.
The family has appealed to the government and concerned agencies for timely updates and emotional support as they await the test results.
