Encroachers’ houses and shops at Sendra Chingkhong evicted

Imphal, Aug  3: At least 10 people including women were injured in police action after a fierce confrontation arises between Moirang Police and villagers located in between Moirang to Sendra road after government authority tried to evict illegal encroachers’ at Sendra Chingkhong, Moirang under Bishnupur District.
The officials vandalises houses, shops and other illegal constructions along the area after issuing proper notification to vacate the area.
However, defying the government order the locals of Moirang and Sendra oppose the government move and staged protest.
Police team which rushed the spot fires tear gas and mock bomb in trying to control the local protestors. In the firing, over 10 locals sustained injuries. The injured locals have been taken to nearby District Health Center.
Moirang District Magistrate, Bishnupur District has already imposed restriction under CrPC 144  in and around the surrounding areas of Moirang and Sendra in the aftermath of the peoples’ opposition to the government order.
