Eco-Tourism Awareness Programme held in Bishnupur under RAMP Scheme

An awareness programme on Eco-Tourism: Nature-Based Eco-Tourism was organised today at P.P. Park, Bishnupur, by the Divisional Forest Officer (DFO), Bishnupur Forest Division, under the Raising & Accelerating MSME Performances (RAMP) Scheme.
Divisional Forest Officer Waikhom Romabai, Green Brigade Manipur Founder Elangbam Premjit, Sanajing Sana Thambal Founder Bijiyashanti Tongbram, and Loktak Eco-Tourism Development Organisation President and National Youth Awardee Oinam Maipakchao attended as key speakers.
Speaking on the occasion, DFO Romabai said that under the RAMP Scheme, the Bishnupur Forest Division has been conducting a series of awareness and capacity-building programmes. She stressed that such initiatives are aimed at empowering local communities to preserve natural resources while promoting eco-tourism as a sustainable livelihood.
Resource persons highlighted the potential of Bishnupur’s rich natural landscapes, especially around Loktak Lake, for eco-tourism development. They also encouraged participants to take active roles in protecting biodiversity, maintaining ecological balance, and exploring eco-friendly economic opportunities.
The programme concluded with an interactive session, where participants shared views on linking conservation with sustainable tourism to create long-term benefits for both the environment and local communities.
