Imphal, July 9:

Dhanamanjuri University Students’ Union (DMUSU) has launched an indefinite hunger strike demanding appointment of regular VC and regular registrar.
“Due to the absence of these key administrative positions, undergraduate students are unable to register with other universities as registration processes have already started. Additionally, marksheets have not been issued to both undergraduate and postgraduate students, despite the latter having cleared their exams,” he stated.
“This situation would not have occurred if we had a regular Vice-Chancellor and Registrar,” said Irom Dimocha.
Irom Dimocha, President of the DMSU, has stated that the indefinite hunger strike is launched in protest of the university’s failure to appoint a full-time Vice-Chancellor and Registrar. The protest highlights ongoing issues that have plagued the university for six years.
In response to the protests, the Rapid Action Force (RAF) and other security forces have been deployed. The DMSU has condemned the heavy security presence and called for the support of the general public to improve the conditions at Dhanamanjuri University, a state university in Manipur.
