District Level Declamation Contest and SVEEP Awareness held

As part of Azadi ka Amrit Mohatsav celebrations, Nehru Yuva Kendra Thoubal in collaboration with NSS Waikhom Mani Girls College & District Election Program organized District Level Declamation Contest on “Patriotism and Nation Building” under the theme of ‘Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas, Sabka Prayas’ (Together we grow, Together we prosper, Together we try, together we build a strong and Inclusive India) along with SVEEP Awareness on Ethical and Informed Voting as well as Jal Sampad/Water Talks on Rainwater Harvesting-Catch The Rain Campaign at Waikhom Mani Girls College today.
The First Session was graced by Ranjita Mayengbam, SDO Thoubal/ERO of Wangkhem AC & Khangabok AC as the Chief Guest, Dr Th Manao Singh, Principal of Waikhom Mani Girls College as the President and Michael Thangminlien Mate, District Youth Officer NYK Thoubal/SVEEP Nodal Officer Thoubal as the Guest of Honour. The First Session opened with a welcome address by K Lokendro Singh, DACYP Member NYK Thoubal, followed by SVEEP Awareness cum T-Shirt Distribution to 1st time voters of Waikhom Mani Girls College by the Chief Guest, Smt Ranjita Mayengbam, SDO Thoubal who spoke on the importance of Free and Fair Elections in the upcoming Manipur State Assembly Elections 2022, and the Right to Vote being a Constitutional Right to be exercised by all in an ethical and informed manner. Dr Kh Jugindro Singh, Associate Prof. Dept of Geography, Thoubal College gave an important Water Talk (Jal Sampad) on Rainwater Harvesting and Water Conservation- Catch the rain where it falls when it falls.
The declamation contest was held in the 2nd session in which 11 participants took part, who had been shortlisted from block level declamations competitions held at different parts of Thoubal and Kakching during November 2021. Paonam Robinson Singh, NSS Program Officer & Asst Prof., Waikhom Mani Girls College, Dr Thounaojam Sunitibala, Associate Prof., Waikhom Mani Girls College and Dr Kh Jugindro Singh, NSS Program Officer & Associate Prof. Thoubal College served as the jury members of the Declamation Contest.
The winners of the District Level Competition were as follows: 1st Prize (Rs. 5,000/-) : Khangembam Dayapati Devi, 2nd Prize (Rs. 2,000/-) : Sophiya Sahani, 3rd Prize (Rs. 1,000/-) : Leimapokpam Prembala Devi.
All winners and participants were given Certificates of Participation. The 1st prize winner was shortlisted for state level competition, to be held in later part of December 2021. Attractive prizes will also be given at State and National level as follows: State Level – 1st Prize:- Rs. 25,000/-, 2nd Prize:- 10,000/-, 3rd Prize:-5,000/-, National Level – 1st Prize:- Rs. 2,00,000/-, 2nd Prize:- Rs. 1,00,000/- and 3rd Prize:- Rs. 50,000/-
The program was closed with a vote of thanks by Shri Michael T Mate, District Youth Officer, Nehru Yuva Kendra Thoubal
