The event was jointly organised by the Manipur State Rural Livelihood Mission (MSRLM) and the District Mission Management Unit, Kakching.
The programme was graced by Moirangthem Kapajit (MCS), Additional Deputy Commissioner of Kakching district, as Chief Guest. Delivering the keynote address, Taorem James, District Mission Manager of MSRLM, stated that the programme aims to improve the economic status and quality of life of women at the village level. It is part of the Deen Dayal Antyodaya Yojana – National Rural Livelihoods Mission, implemented under the Ministry of Rural Development and Panchayati Raj.
He shared that the programme, which began on March 19 and spanned 30 days, successfully facilitated the formation of 69 Self Help Groups (SHGs) in Arong-Nongmaikhong and 48 SHGs in Irengband Gram Panchayat. Today’s debriefing was organised to orient the new members on SHG operations and the process of forming federations from SHGs.
James also highlighted the importance of women’s active participation in such initiatives. Rather than limiting themselves to household responsibilities, he encouraged women to take advantage of government schemes and programmes that empower them to contribute to their financial well-being.
