Thongam Biswajit, Minister of Forest, Environment and Climate Change, Agriculture, Science & Technology emphasized the significance of indigenous cultural exchange as a unifying force during turbulent times. Speaking at the closing function of the Indigenous Cultural Exchange Festival held at Chadong, Biswajit remarked that the festival is “the need of the hour,” offering solace and connection amid ongoing unrest in the state.
The event served as a proof to the enduring strength of Manipur’s indigenous communities, promoting peace and cultural preservation in challenging times, Th Biswajit added.
Despite the prevailing violence, people gathered in Chadong to participate in the festival, showcasing resilience and a shared commitment to preserving indigenous traditions. Additionally, many others joined the celebration virtually, showing the event’s broader impact in connecting communities beyond physical boundaries.
Ashang Kasar, a civil society activist, was also present at the festival, lending his support to the cultural initiative. The festival featured traditional performances, crafts, and rituals, fostering a spirit of unity and cultural pride.
