Imphal, August 30: Police has picked up two MLAs of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), K Joykishan and Th Bishorjit from Pangei today morning around 7.30, while a team of BJP members led by the duo stormed at Manipur Police Training Centre, Pangai in their bid to foil the fresh recruitment of Manipur Police constable.
Led by the MLAs along with hundreds of BJP workers stormed at the northern gate of police training centre. The situation turned hostile after the agitators and state police forces started skirmishing each other. A team of Manipur Police led by SP of Imphal East rushed at the spot, however as the situation turned more violent the police resorted to pick up the MLAs. The two MLA are being detained at Porompat police station, according to police source.
Meanwhile, a team of 9 members lead by president of BJP K Bhabananda has submitted a memorandum to Governor of Manipur through Secretary to the governor as the governor was out of station.
Speaking to the media persons, K Bhabananda Singh, President of Bharatiya Janata Party, Manipur Pradesh said that 8-point memorandum has been submitted to review the recruitment process by the state government. It also demanded to constitute an independent inquiry committee to find out the irregularities and announce the results of the candidates with no irregularities.
Bhabananda has alleged that Chief Minister, Okram Ibobi Singh has trapped the people of Manipur and made depend on him.
He is running the state like a shopkeeper and contractor by selling government posts at different rates. This led to high level prevalence of poverty and corruption in the state. Poverty and corruption became contagious diseases and being spread by the Chief Minister.
“Recent recruitment notifications by the state government is monetary demands for funding himself and his MLAs in the forthcoming state assembly election,” said the President, while talking to reporters after the rally at BJP Head Office.
