COCOMI calls for unity in honouring crash victims

The Coordinating Committee on Manipur Integrity (COCOMI) has extended heartfelt condolences over the tragic deaths of two women from Manipur—Kongbrailatpam Nganthoi Sharma of Thoubal and Namlunthhem Singson of Imphal—in the recent Air India Flight AI 171 crash. The flight, bound for London from Ahmedabad, crashed shortly after takeoff on June 12, claiming multiple lives.
In a press statement issued today, COCOMI appealed to all sections of society, including civil bodies, youth clubs, and the general public, to cooperate in receiving the mortal remains at Imphal Airport. The group also urged the state government and relevant authorities to arrange the smooth transfer of the remains to the victims’ respective homes.
COCOMI informed that DNA identification is currently underway and expected to take around 72 hours, after which the remains will be flown back to Manipur. The organisation assured the families of full support during the repatriation and final rites.
Calling for unity in grief, COCOMI encouraged the people of Manipur to honour the return of the deceased with dignity and love, as the state mourns the loss of its two promising daughters.
