CM inaugurates first ADR Centre in the State

Chief Minister N. Biren Singh inaugurated the first Alternative Disputes Resolution (ADR) Centre of the State at Lamphelpat, Imphal West in the presence of Judge of Supreme Court of India Justice Ranjan Gogoi today.
Speaking as Chief Guest of the function, Chief Minister N. Biren Singh said that such ‘Alternative Disputes Resolution’ (ADR) Centre would facilitate in resolving civil disputes through arbitration, mediation and conciliation and benefit the common people of the State. Such concept of ADR mechanism is capable of providing a substitute to the conventional methods of resolving various disputes, he added. He mentioned the advantages of ADR Centre such as cost effectiveness, being less time consuming, removed from the technicalities of Courts and opportunities it provided for preventing hostility while maintaining good relationship between the parties etc.
Stating that the ADR Centre is being constructed at the cost of Rs. 5.50 crores, Chief Minister said that the present government is working tirelessly on the people oriented programmes and for inclusive growth and development in the State. He stressed that a Fast Track Special Court (ND&PS) would be inaugurated on 2nd April, 2018. He further said that the government would continue to extend all possible support and efforts to strengthen the legal institutions of the State for the good of the people.
Judge of Supreme Court, Justice Ranjan Gogoi said that it is a significant day and beginning of new era in the judicial practice in Manipur. He stated that Manipur had a strong judicial system in the past. He elaborated various advantages of ADR in settling various disputes in the State. He further maintained that to have a good judiciary is a National asset.
Minister for Law and Legislative Affairs L. Jayantakumar Singh, Acting Chief Justice, High Court of Manipur N. Kotiswar Singh, Judge, High Court of Manipur Kh. Nobin Singh, Chief Secretary R.R Rashmi, Advocate General N. Kumarjit and various officials attended the function.
