The 31st Foundation Day of Chanura Lamchinglel Kangleipak (CLK) was observed today at the Manipur Press Club, where speakers stressed the need for women’s empowerment, responsible use of mobile internet, and an urgent resolution to the ongoing violence in the state.
CLK President Ch. Pakpi Chanu, while addressing the gathering, made a heartfelt appeal to the government to take immediate steps to end the ongoing violence that has severely affected the lives of people across the state. She emphasized that peace and stability must be restored at the earliest, as the prolonged conflict has created immense suffering, particularly for women and children.
Highlighting CLK’s initiatives in women’s economic empowerment, Ch. Pakpi Chanu also spoke about the organization’s efforts in promoting farming among women at Sanasabi village. She stated that CLK has been actively supporting women in taking up agriculture as a means of livelihood, ensuring economic independence and strengthening the rural economy.
Expressing concern over the increasing misuse of mobile internet, particularly among young women, Pakpi Chanu urged them to be cautious and not fall victim to its negative impacts.
She stressed the need for awareness regarding the responsible use of social media and other digital platforms, warning that misinformation and exploitation on the internet could have serious consequences for society.
The event was attended by Dr. Laishram Deben, Former Director of JNIMS, as the Chief Guest, with RK Sanahanbi, President of Kanglei Ima Lup (KIL), as the Guest of Honour. Khuraijam Athouba also spoke on the occasion, emphasizing the importance of CLK’s contributions over the years in empowering women and fostering social change.
As CLK completes 31 years of service, the event reaffirmed the organization’s commitment to advocating for women’s rights, economic progress, and a peaceful society.
