Amidst claims about the restoration of peace in the state including the border town Moreh, the lives of the common people still are not safe in Kuki-dominated areas. The presence of large security forces does not help common people to live peacefully in the border town of Moreh, even persons engaged by the central forces for their transportation are not even spared. A driver of a vehicle whom the central armed forces used in Moreh was brutally assaulted at the border town while on duty. State police forces were not allowed to act to control the law and order situation of the border town.
The driver of the bus used by the Central Armed Force identified as Md. Faruk, (26 years) is presently undergoing treatment at RIMS hospital here in Imphal. According to report, he was dropping some Central armed forces at around 9 pm yesterday at a place close to the Moreh ton. After SF went out of his vehicle leaving him alone some miscreants suspected to be Kuki militants came and started assaulting him black and blue. His condition was critical and is in a state of trauma. He cannot say a single word after the incident.
Meanwhile, source said that the stated police team sent to Moreh is not allowed to act to control the situation at Moreh. “We are kept in our camp and not allowed to control the situation, I don’t know why they sent us here”, a police personal told Imphal Times.
At such a situation displaced Meitei people will never be able to return to their respective houses. A police personnel recently deployed at Moreh town but kept on the campus like a prisoner said that Kuki people under the dictate of the armed militants are committing acts that are against the law.
“Our hands are tight, we are not given the order to act, I don’t understand why we are sent here”, the police personnel told Imphal Times.
